Measuring nearly 10" in length, the SGM-3500L's long interference tube creates an exaggerated directional pickup pattern for extreme off-axis sound rejection, especially at the higher frequencies. This quality makes it exceptionally well suited for boom pole work in professional video production.
The 7" long interference tube generates a slightly less directional supercardioid polar pattern over the longer 3500L version. Yet it still provides excellent rejection of off-axis sound. While perfectly suitable as a boom microphone, the shorter length makes the 3500 a more practical choice for on-camera mounting.
