This standard lens has a 43mm focal length, which is equal to the diagonal length of a 35mm-film image area. Its unique focal length captures the image as if seen by the human eye, and produces a natural sense of depth as observed by the naked eye. Compared with conventional 50mm standard lenses, which were popular during the golden days of film photography, this 43mm lens provides a slightly broader field of view to more effectively capture today’s subjects — such as high-rise buildings, wide streets and fashionable cityscapes.
This lens has a 31mm focal length, which provides a slightly broader angle of view than more conventional 35mm lenses, to expand the possibilities of wide-angle photography. This lens inherits the proven optics of the smc PENTAX-FA 31mm F1.8AL Limited, and incorporates high-grade optical components — such as glass-molded, aspherical elements and high-refraction, low-dispersion glass elements — to deliver sharp, well-defined images of small subjects, such as the very tips of a bare, leafless tree’s branches in winter.
State-of-the-art optical technology. This lens incorporates three Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical elements to effectively minimize chromatic aberration, and a glass-molded aspherical optical element to effectively compensate for spherical and comatic aberrations and field curvature to deliver extra-clear, high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness, even at open aperture.
Featuring a magnification range from 0.1x to 2x, making this lens ideally suited for rapidly changing macro photography scenarios without using any extension tube. The wide magnification range is very useful for shooting macro objects (e.g. insects) with different sizes. The lens is also designed for normal shooting purposes with a 60mm focal length, providing an all-in-one solution for normal portrait shooting as well as ultra-macro photography.
