When folks ask me what I shoot, my standard reply is “anything with a pulse.” While that isn’t exactly the truth (technically a landscape doesn’t have one), I do believe that nature and wildlife photography can capture the essence—maybe even the heartbeat—of our surroundings. My goal is to try and find those moments and record them in a way that creates an emotional response in the viewer.

Primarily a self-taught photographer, I started with a Canon AE-1P and rather quickly progressed from film into the digital age. I was drawn into the world of nature and wildlife photography by the bodies of work of some amazing photographers; their art has led me to a greater appreciation of the world around us, an appreciation I hope I’ve shared here.

While my day job puts me somewhere in a dark theatre with my finger on the GO button, I’d rather my finger rest on the trigger of my camera. That’s how I’d prefer to experience, and capture, the pulse of the world.
