My intereset in photography started at an early age; I used a Brownie camera to capture birds nests with eggs and baby chicks when I was four. Now, my subjects vary but I am primarily a nature photographer who still loves photographing birds perhaps the most. I have reentered the field after a crippling illness left me unable to use a camera for approximately ten years. I developed an intense interest in macrophotography of florals and nature, then expanded to include landscapes, birds, and some portraiture. My earlier florals were huge very bright photos. My later florals are best described as Monet-like as they appear as oil and water color paintings; pastel hughs dominate. Many of my foliage shots look like vivid pastels. I've experimented with several techniques as you will see in my photographs. My goal is to elicit a sense of captivation in my viewers. I definately have my own style and methods of photography but am striving to continuously learn and expand as a photographer as I believe it is a lifelong learning process. I've worked in many different mediums from oils and acrylics to crewelwork and sculpture. I have a collection of poetry and am a free lance writer focusing mainly on avian topics currently. Several of my pieces have been shown at the Cambridge Association's Kathryn Shultz Gallery and it is in several places online eg caladangallery.com (Flow Exhibition). There is a collection of foliage photographs currently on display at the Chelsea Public Library that will be there for another few months (Jan 2011). My latest compilation of foliage photos will be here on this site. In January or February I hope to have a collection of avian photos followed by a show of florals.
