A Word from Dee Ann

The sense of peace and oneness with nature that envelops me when I am photographing is hypnotizing. Mother Nature's richness and enchantment abounds beyond imagination. Visualize the Earth's kaleidoscope of colors as beams of light bring to life one remarkable mosaic after another...This is what our natural world offers as it stimulates our senses through its tapestry of flora and fauna.

I hope my passion for capturing the spirit of our magnificent yet fragile land and wildlife kingdom will resonate within you as you journey through my windows of nature.

From Dee Ann…

Although I may have a plan or a wish as I approach photographing in nature, I always find something of the unexpected. I’ve learned to just be present, and remain open to what nature may offer in each moment. To me, Mother Nature is a kaleidoscope, bringing remarkable mosaics into view one after another, with colors, light, textures, fragrances and sounds … a sensual treat of fauna, flora, land, sea and sky … the tapestry of our natural world. I'm hypnotized by the sense of peace and unity that embraces me when I am photographing in nature. In this place of oneness, I feel enchantment and richness beyond imagination.

As a nature photographer, I feel gratified to offer “Windows of Nature” images that enhance awareness of conservation, enrich the lives of others, and speak to the power of stewardship for a more meaningful tomorrow.

Biography

Dee Ann Pederson is a nature and wildlife photographer who shares her passion for nature through her images and leading photographic journeys across the globe. Her awareness and respect for nature began during family vacations to visit our national parks and natural wonders. At the age of seventeen, Dee Ann began her love for photography while working as a photographer’s assistant. Her abundant energy and “wanderlust” have led her around the world in search of nature’s splendor. She is as at home in the frigid Arctic as she is in the heat of the Serengeti; nature offers her gifts independent of climate or location.

Dee Ann’s images are sold as framed, limited-edition fine art prints through private/gallery shows and the Windows of Nature web store. They have been licensed for use on clothing and sold for editorial and commercial use, including National Geographic Traveler, National Geographic Expeditions, Yale University, Holland American Cruise Line, British Airways, as well as travel books and others. She has published her “Nature’s Inspirations” calendar since 2004 and has also a collection of “Nature’s Inspired” note cards available at her webstore. Over three separate years, she has had images on exhibit in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., in the collection of Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards Exhibition. In 2010, she was recognized as one of Nature’s Best Ambassadors.

In nature, life finds sustainable balance. Often, however, human activity threatens this balance, and in turn, the sustainability of ecosystems. Only through the effort of communities of support can we restore balance where it’s been compromised. Through sales of her photographs, art cards and calendars, Dee Ann provides financial support to the following organizations/communities, each committed to protecting nature’s delicate balance: Conservation International, The Cougar Fund, East Africa Wild Life Society (Kenya), The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Kenya), Jane Goodall Institute, the Houston Zoo, The Nature Conservancy, National Audubon Society, the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, African Wildlife Foundation and Polar Bears International. She is also a member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and has served on the NANPA Foundation Board since 2006. She is currently Co-President of the NANPA Foundation.
